The challenge
The Oud Geleerd Jong Gedaan foundation brings students and seniors together through interactive lectures. After COVID-19, a digital alternative was essential, but the target audience — mainly people aged 65+ — has minimal digital experience. Every extra click or confusing screen becomes a barrier. The challenge was twofold: build a platform that is technically sophisticated yet feels like the simplest app on their tablet, and implement a payment model that suits the foundation's social mission.
Our solution
We developed a platform powered by Jitsi for live video lectures, where every interaction element is optimised for maximum accessibility. Automation removes complexity: one click to register, one click to join the lecture — no downloads or accounts needed. The pay-what-you-can system is automated via Stripe, including anonymous donation options. A CMS enables the OGJG team to independently manage lectures, instructors, and schedules. The entire interface is designed following accessibility-first principles: large, clear, and with minimal cognitive load.
